The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) expressed limited concern over Donald Trump's re-election, despite his past "America First" policies that prioritize U.S. interests and could complicate trade relations with Africa.
While Trump previously launched the "Prosper Africa" initiative to foster U.S.-Africa trade and counter China's growing influence, his protectionist stance may still limit African access to U.S. markets.
However, GUTA’s President, Dr. Joseph Obeng, remains optimistic, noting that Ghanaian businesses will adapt and leverage competitive advantages without fearing major impacts on trade.
He emphasized the importance of following regulations and identifying opportunities to sustain U.S.-Ghana business interactions amid shifting global dynamics.
