Chinese, six Ghanaians in court over GH¢440,000 game cheating   - Ghana Business News

A Chinese businessman and six Ghanaians are in court. They face charges over a GH¢440,000 cheating scheme at the Golden Dragon Casino in Accra.

The businessman, Mu Shuai, denied any agreement to cheat. His alleged accomplices include Rudolph Ayin, Loveland Odamtten Okpoti, Joseph Addo Narh, Ibrahim Tijani, Kelvin Baidoo, and Elijah Larbi. All of them also denied conspiring with Shuai.

Each defendant was granted bail of GH¢400,000 with two sureties. One surety must be justified for each defendant. Additionally, one of Shuai's sureties must be Chinese.

Shuai must deposit his travel documents with the court. He, along with Ayin and Narh, is required to report to the police weekly. They are scheduled to return to court on April 24, 2025.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Benjamin Baafi is prosecuting the case. The complainant is the manageress of Golden Dragon Casino; Shuai was a player there.

In 2024, Shuai registered at the casino and began playing games regularly. The casino tracks customer activity daily; Shuai's records showed unusual wins.

On February 16, 2025, surveillance revealed suspicious card dealings between Shuai and Narh. This did not meet casino standards according to ASP Baafi.

The system review traced Shuai's play back to September 2024. It showed he and his accomplices were flashing cards against gaming rules.

Investigations indicated that Shuai wrongfully won GH¢440,000 with staff assistance. A formal complaint led to their arrests.

During questioning, Shuai admitted guilt in his statement and refunded the money through another player. The others denied wrongdoing but acknowledged receiving money from Shuai as rewards for winning games.

CCTV footage confirmed that they conspired to cheat the casino. After investigations concluded, all were charged and brought before the court.
