The Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry has expressed its commitment to working collaboratively to strengthen the roads sector and support economic growth.

This pledge follows remarks by Roads Minister-Designate Kwame Govern Agbodza during his parliamentary vetting, where he highlighted the sector's challenges, including over ₵100 billion in unpaid debts.

Chamber CEO Emmanuel Cherry commended the Minister-Designate's candid approach, expressing optimism about potential solutions through collaboration. Cherry emphasized the need for dialogue between private sector players and the government to address the infrastructure deficit effectively.

He also noted the financial strain contractors face due to complex loan interest calculations, which exacerbate the debt burden when government payments are delayed. The Chamber is eager to support initiatives that drive progress in the sector.
