Court refuses bail application for painter accused of stealing electrical cables - Ghana Business News

A court has denied bail to a painter accused of stealing electrical cables valued at approximately $4,000. The suspect, identified as Samuel Osei, was apprehended after police discovered the stolen items in his possession. During the court proceedings, the prosecution argued that releasing Osei could jeopardize ongoing investigations and increase the risk of him fleeing justice. The presiding judge concurred, highlighting the seriousness of the charges against him and emphasizing the need for maintaining public order.

The incident reportedly occurred when Osei was caught red-handed transporting several coils of cable that had been reported stolen from a construction site. His defense attorney attempted to argue for bail on grounds of presumption of innocence and lack of previous criminal history; however, these points were insufficient to sway the judge's decision.

As a result, Osei will remain in custody as legal proceedings continue. This case underscores ongoing concerns regarding theft within construction projects and highlights law enforcement's commitment to tackling such crimes effectively.
