The Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC) has called for greater cross-representation on the boards of key energy entities to enhance governance, transparency, and operational efficiency.
ASEC advocates that boards of institutions such as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) include representatives from organizations like the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and the Volta River Authority (VRA) to provide diverse technical insights and improve revenue distribution mechanisms.
This strategy, ASEC argues, will ensure fair tariff setting, prompt resolution of financial issues, and alignment of infrastructure investments with national energy goals, preventing resource misallocation and service disruptions.
ASEC also urges prioritizing seasoned internal experts, especially as discussions on ECG’s privatization progress and encourages private sector participation to foster sustainable and transparent energy sector governance in Ghana.
