The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) will start 2025 vehicle registration on January 2, 2025, across all operational centers.
The new number plates will feature a "-25" suffix, signifying the year.
Vehicle owners will receive a smart card and certificate of title with vehicle details under the online registration system.
The process involves two stages. First, vehicles must be tested at accredited centers with customs documents validated at DVLA offices. An invoice for services will then be issued.
The second stage covers payment (cash or electronic), biometric data capture, and issuance of documents like roadworthy certificates, license plates, and the smart card.
The DVLA encourages vehicle owners to complete the process promptly to ensure compliance and road safety.
