At the National Economic Dialogue, economic experts urged the government to diversify Ghana’s economy and boost export competitiveness as part of a broader recovery strategy.
In breakout sessions focusing on six thematic areas, Mavis Owusu-Gyamfi, President of the African Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET), highlighted the need for deliberate, strategic policies to drive long-term growth.
She called on the government to extend investment incentives to large local businesses, as is already done for foreign direct investors, stressing that empowering domestic enterprises is crucial for national development.
Her remarks underscored concerns that excessive reliance on foreign investment may hinder the potential of homegrown companies, which could act as catalysts for economic transformation.
Policymakers are expected to integrate these recommendations into forthcoming reforms for sustainable recovery.
