Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, Convener of the Pensioners Bondholders Forum, has called on the government to consistently fulfill its financial obligations to investors to maintain market confidence.

Speaking on Joy News' PM Express on February 17, Dr. Antwi emphasized the importance of honoring bond payments on schedule, especially as the government faces its first major bond settlement under the current administration.

Dr. Antwi explained that bond payments are scheduled every six months, and while some bondholders receive smaller payments weekly, those under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) are due for bulk payments every six months.

He reassured investors that the government must remain committed to these payments to rebuild trust, highlighting that contractual obligations persist regardless of political transitions.

He stressed that timely coupon payments and consistency are essential for restoring investor confidence, ensuring that when the principal payments are due, the government can meet its obligations.

Dr. Antwi also mentioned that while some individual bondholders have already received payments, others will need to wait until the bonds mature in four years, urging the government to honor future payments to maintain credibility.
