Dr. Sa-ad Iddrisu, a Ghanaian economist based in the U.S., has called for increased domestic airline services on the Accra-Tamale route to meet surging demand.
He noted that existing carriers like African World and Passion Air are struggling to accommodate travelers, particularly for early morning flights, which are crucial during major events.
The recent high demand coincides with significant gatherings such as Alhaji Baba Repairer's event and the funeral of Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu’s mother. Dr. Iddrisu criticized airlines for failing to anticipate the surge, leaving even diplomats and UN officials unable to secure flights.
He urged aviation stakeholders to address capacity challenges on this essential route to better connect travelers to northern Ghana and manage future demand effectively.
