Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the African Institute of Energy and Sustainability (AIES).
AIES is a top research and consultancy institute in Africa. It focuses on promoting sustainable energy practices across the continent. Dr. Nuamah’s role will enhance AIES's commitment to research, policy development, and clean energy transitions.
He is an academic, energy strategist, and policy advisor. Dr. Nuamah has worked extensively in both the UK and Ghana. He has held important positions at RWE npower and Genser Energy in the UK. He also lectured at the University of Ghana and Nottingham Trent University.
Dr. Nuamah was a member of Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy. In this role, he contributed to energy policy reforms.
After his appointment, Dr. Nuamah stated that Africa faces critical energy challenges. He emphasized the need for policies guided by research and innovation. At AIES, he aims to equip policymakers with strategies for cleaner energy systems.
AIES specializes in energy consultancy, environmental impact assessments, research, and technical training. The institute believes Dr. Nuamah’s appointment supports its goal of promoting low-carbon economies.
Dr. Nuamah holds a BSc from KNUST, an MSc from Cranfield University, and an EngD from the University of Nottingham.
Vincent Annan is the CEO of the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI). He described Dr. Nuamah's appointment as timely for AIES's growth.
Mr. Annan noted that Dr. Nuamah combines academic insight with industry experience effectively.
Dr. Nuamah will lead new partnerships and expand renewable energy research initiatives. His leadership aims to support governments and communities in achieving energy sustainability.
