Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko has confirmed that the controversial Electronic Levy (E-Levy) will be scrapped by the end of March 2025, pending the approval of the 2025 budget and appropriation.
Speaking on the OXFAM Tax Dialogue on Channel One TV, Nyarko explained that the levy’s removal will take effect immediately after Parliament finalizes the budget process. He assured that if all goes as planned, the tax will no longer apply from April 2025.
Beyond tax reforms, the Deputy Minister also highlighted the need for a comprehensive review of Ghana’s investment climate. While Ghana’s democratic stability remains a key attraction for foreign investors, he acknowledged that other factors continue to discourage investment inflows.
He emphasized the need for deeper analysis and stakeholder engagement to identify and address these barriers, calling for discussions on areas where Ghana may not be meeting investor expectations.
