Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President John Mahama’s 2024 campaign, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to abolishing the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) and the COVID-19 levy, as promised in the NDC's 2024 manifesto.
Speaking on JoyNews, she criticized the E-Levy’s 1.5% rate, comparing it unfavorably with other countries' lower rates.
Bawah argued that the levy stifles mobile money transactions, crucial for Ghanaians, especially with bank closures.
She also questioned the continued collection of COVID-19 levies despite unfinished projects, assuring that both levies would be scrapped under the new government.
