In Ghana, the process begins when the gazette is completed. The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) receives this notification, usually by midnight. This notification triggers tax collection systems.
If the GRA gets the gazette on April 3, they will act quickly. By midnight on April 4, they may instruct charging entities to stop collecting taxes. The process is centralized and digital, which should minimize challenges.
Timore Boi expressed confidence in this digital system. He believes that significant issues are unlikely to arise. However, he acknowledged that errors in deductions could occur.
He mentioned that if someone is wrongly charged, it might be an error. In such cases, proper procedures must be followed for refunds.
