Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has accused the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) of financial mismanagement, revealing that 3,000 containers of unused items at Tema Port are incurring GHC1.5 billion in annual demurrage.
Speaking on The KeyPoints, he criticized the previous administration for economic mismanagement, citing ECG’s GHC68 billion debt and a national verified debt of $67 billion.
The government insists the economy is in poor condition due to the past administration, while the opposition argues that figures are being manipulated to exaggerate the crisis. The debate follows the 2025 Budget Statement, with Ofosu stressing that Ghana’s economic state is dire and should not be downplayed.
