The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will begin maintenance in the Ashanti Region this month. This effort aims to improve power distribution and ensure a steady power supply.
The Ashanti Sub-Transmission team is leading this initiative. They will focus on key primary substations that serve many customers, including residential, commercial, and industrial users.
ECG wants to address concerns about power reliability. The company is working hard to reduce outages and lower operational costs. This maintenance is part of their plan to enhance supply reliability.
Ing. Edem Agra manages Substations and Switchgear Maintenance. He emphasized the importance of this scheduled work as part of ECG's annual maintenance plan.
“This prioritizes proactive care over reactive fixes,” he explained. “Our goal is long-term asset health and consistent power supply for our customers.”
From June 12 to June 27, ECG will upgrade critical switchgear and transformers at three substations: Kaase Main D, KTI Main G, and Fawode Main W.
Residents in these areas may experience brief outages during maintenance work. Engineers will work around the clock to restore power quickly.
Ing. Peter K. Fletcher is the General Manager for Ashanti Sub-Transmission. He noted that this maintenance goes beyond just wires and transformers.
“It’s a promise to our customers,” he said. “We aim to prevent outages, reduce system strain, and build a stronger power network.”
With this initiative, ECG invests in a resilient energy grid for future demands while minimizing disruptions.
Collins Manu, Head of Public Relations for Ashanti Sub-Transmission, stated: “We maintain it today to prevent outages tomorrow.” He assured that they would ensure reliable service for every customer.
