Samuel Dubik Mahama, former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), revealed that the company’s revenue had been stagnant for years, ranging between GH¢450 million and GH¢500 million.
Speaking at the JoyNews National Dialogue, he explained that ECG had long been excluded from major revenue discussions.
Under his leadership, revenue surged to GH¢1.5 billion. Mahama also discussed the company’s deep-rooted financial struggles, citing over 700 outstanding infrastructure projects and a lack of focus on the business side of operations.
He emphasized the critical need for modern utility companies to invest in customer engagement, noting that during his tenure, ECG initiated efforts to improve customer relations and address operational inefficiencies.
