The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA), representing major EV and battery manufacturers like Tesla, Rivian, LG, and Panasonic, has urged President-elect Donald Trump to retain tax credits for electric vehicle (EV) production and sales.

ZETA emphasized that these credits, including the $7,500 consumer tax credit, have spurred significant job growth in states like Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan, and are crucial for competing with China in EV manufacturing.

Despite industry pleas, Trump has expressed skepticism about tax incentives, calling them ineffective, and is reportedly considering reversing the expanded tax credit policies implemented under President Biden in 2022.

During his first term, Trump attempted to repeal the EV tax credit and plans to roll back emissions regulations further, which could hinder investments in U.S. EV manufacturing and job creation.
