At the National Economic Dialogue, experts recommended the partial privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to address the energy sector’s mounting debt.
Former GNPC CEO Dr. K.K. Sarpong emphasized that private sector participation could enhance efficiency, improve revenue collection, and reduce financial losses.
He suggested commercializing ECG and preparing it for a future stock market listing to attract local and international investment.
Dr. Sarpong also proposed key policy reforms for the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), highlighting the need for operational efficiency, cost-cutting, and financial restructuring to restore profitability. These recommendations aim to improve the sustainability of Ghana’s energy and cocoa sectors.
