Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, is optimistic. He believes the committee’s recommendations will help President John Dramani Mahama “reset” Ghana’s economy.
Dr. Yamson spoke during the submission of the final report to President Mahama at Jubilee House on June 4. This report comes after months of stakeholder engagement and analysis. It aims to guide strategic decisions for revitalizing the national economy.
“We are confident, Your Excellency, that you will find the recommendations useful,” Dr. Yamson stated. He highlighted that these recommendations consider current global economic uncertainties. They advocate for a resilient model focused on self-reliance.
Dr. Yamson also noted that some proposals have been included in the 2025 national budget. Early results from these implementations have been encouraging. “We are excited to know that key recommendations are already being implemented with spectacular results,” he said.
The National Economic Dialogue promotes inclusive economic policy discussions. Its goal is to create a sustainable path for Ghana's economic transformation amid domestic and international challenges.
