With Ghana's December 7 general elections approaching, domestic airlines are experiencing a significant rise in passenger traffic as voters finalize travel plans to their constituencies.
Airlines, including Africa World Airlines (AWA), are increasing operations to meet demand, with AWA adjusting schedules to offer more daily flights to destinations like Tamale and Kumasi.
Captain Kwasi Oteng, AWA’s Chief Operating Officer, attributes the surge to both the election season and the upcoming festive period.
He assured passengers of the airline’s preparedness and emphasized collaboration with Ghana Airport Company to maintain safety standards, citing AWA's strong safety record.
However, operational limitations at key airports like Tamale and Kumasi, which lack 24-hour services, remain a challenge for late-booking travelers during this busy period.
