The Ghana Women-Friendly Workplaces Report by Konfidants examines workplace policies. It focuses on how these policies affect women's reproductive health and career growth.
The report is based on a survey of women in public and private sectors. It identifies the reproductive health needs of women at work. It also outlines necessary policies and practices for organizations to adopt.
Following the report's launch, a stakeholder forum was held. Distinguished guests included representatives from the Vice-President's office, AGI, academia, and business leaders. They discussed support for women during menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, miscarriage, and surrogacy.
Participants shared examples of effective policies that support women's health and careers. They explored strategies for improving workplace conditions through collaboration and advocacy.
Gifty Fordwuo, Head of Human Resources at Standard Chartered, spoke at the forum. She emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting women with reproductive health challenges. She stated that helping women navigate these challenges is essential for their success.
Standard Chartered has introduced various employee well-being policies. These are designed for both male and female employees. The bank conducts surveys to understand staff experiences and implement changes.
For example, they offer flexible work arrangements for women with severe menstrual symptoms. They recognize that productivity is linked to well-being.
Additionally, Standard Chartered provides five months of maternity leave for childbirth, adoption, or surrogacy. Male employees also receive five months of paternity leave.
The bank's commitment extends beyond just policies. Through its partnership with Konfidants, it promotes discussions about reproductive health-friendly practices.
By advocating for flexible policies and open conversations about women's health, Standard Chartered sets an example for others. This initiative aims to ensure that women feel supported while thriving in their careers.
