Energy Minister Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor has inspected the Tema Harbour, where approximately 2,500 containers procured by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) remain uncleared, incurring GHS 1.5 billion in demurrage charges.
The containers, containing critical materials purchased under the previous administration, highlight lapses in resource management and inter-agency coordination, creating a significant financial burden.
Hon. Jinapor expressed concern over the situation, labeling it unacceptable, and pledged to enhance operational efficiency and accountability. He emphasized the urgent need to clear the containers to mitigate further losses and support key energy projects benefiting Ghanaians.
He assured the public that measures would be implemented to prevent such inefficiencies, underscoring the importance of prudent resource management in advancing Ghana's development goals.
