The MLM is a key part of the government’s energy recovery plan. It aims to attract credible investors and reduce losses. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience in Ghana's power distribution network.
Jinapor will chair the committee, with Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as co-chair. Other members include Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine. Also on the committee are Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Managing Directors Julius Kpekpena and John Okine Yamoah, along with Secretary Baba Akon.
The steering committee will oversee data collection and auditing. They will ensure regulatory compliance and review transaction documents. Additionally, they will lead stakeholder engagement efforts.
A dedicated PSP Implementation Unit within the ministry will provide support. The committee has also formed three sub-committees: Technical, Governance and Regulatory, and Stakeholder Management.
Mr. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur chairs the Technical Sub-Committee. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but remains optimistic about their goals. “The road will be challenging,” he said, “but I have confidence in our members.”
This initiative comes amid ongoing public frustration over power cuts and ageing infrastructure in Ghana's electricity system.
