Claudio Descalzi, the CEO of Eni, visited President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.
They discussed oil production activities in Ghana.
Descalzi highlighted the Offshore Cape Three Points project (OCTP). This project is the largest private investment in Ghana. It was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. First oil was produced in 2017, and first gas in 2018.
The gas from OCTP is for domestic use only. It provides a reliable energy source for Ghana's needs. The project contributes to about 70% of Ghana's gas production.
Eni also shared new exploration and development opportunities with the President. They discussed plans for economic diversification in Ghana.
Eni has operated in Ghana since 2009. The company leads the OCTP project with a 44.40% share. Its partners are Vitol with 35.60% and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation with 20%.
Eni's projects include training initiatives, economic diversification, and improving access to water and energy.
