Eni Ghana and its OCTP Partners, Vitol and GNPC, launch Sankofa East 1X Side Track 2 activity

Eni Ghana, along with its partners Vitol Upstream Ghana Ltd and GNPC, has launched the Sankofa East 1X Side Track 2. This marks an important step in developing Ghana’s energy sector.

The Deep Value Driller (DVD) is now operating offshore Ghana. It recently finished work in Côte d'Ivoire. This drillship features advanced automated technology and ranks among the world's best for safety and performance.

This project shows the partners' commitment to enhancing value from the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block. It aims to ensure long-term production sustainability and boost Ghana’s energy security.

Before starting this campaign, Eni and its partners engaged with stakeholders along Ghana’s coastline. They aimed for open communication and collaboration with local communities. Over 800 fishermen and local leaders participated in these discussions, supported by various agencies like the EPA and Fisheries Commission.

Eni has been active in Ghana since 2009, focusing on offshore exploration and production. The company produces about 34,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Eni operates the OCTP project with a 44.4% share, alongside Vitol at 35.6% and GNPC at 20%. Their joint ventures also include projects for training, economic diversification, water access, sanitation, and energy access.
