Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will present a bill to Parliament today, March 12, under a certificate of urgency to repeal several taxes, including the betting tax, Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), and COVID-19 Levy.

Announcing this on JoyNews, he emphasized that the repeal process will be straightforward, with each tax removal requiring just a single clause. Dr. Forson expressed confidence that Parliament will act swiftly, given the urgency of the revenue measures under Ghana’s Constitution.

He assured that once passed, President John Mahama will promptly sign the bill into law. The move aligns with the government’s 2025 Budget plan to eliminate five "nuisance taxes," aiming to ease financial burdens on citizens and boost economic growth.
