Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has criticized his successor, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, accusing him of manipulating economic data in the 2025 budget to discredit the previous NPP administration.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Amin Adam described the budget as a "hatchet job," full of unfounded claims designed to paint the NPP as fiscally irresponsible.
He challenged the reported fiscal deficit of 7.6% of GDP and primary deficit of 3.6%, arguing that an economy with strong revenue performance and controlled spending, as claimed by Dr. Forson, could not produce such negative figures.
Dr. Amin Adam insisted that the NPP left behind a strong and healthy economy, dismissing the budget’s portrayal of excessive borrowing and fiscal mismanagement as politically motivated distortions.
