Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has finally presented the 2025 first-quarter budget after weeks of delays that triggered a government shutdown at the start of the year.

The outgoing government seeks ₵68.1 billion to sustain operations until the incoming John Mahama administration delivers its full 2025 budget.

The budget presentation faced setbacks due to disagreements between the NPP majority and NDC minority over unresolved tax waivers.

Referred to the Budget and Finance Committees for review, the proposal covers public sector salaries, statutory payments, critical infrastructure, and social programs.

December’s parliamentary adjournment without a budget statement fueled frustration, with both parties trading blame for the impasse.

The temporary Vote on Account is now essential to maintaining government functions.
