Finance Minister submits 2025 Budget to Cabinet

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has submitted the 2025 Budget to Cabinet for review ahead of its presentation to Parliament on March 11.

Chaired by President John Mahama, the Cabinet meeting aimed to align the budget with the National Democratic Congress's campaign promises and assess the political implications of proposed measures. Sources suggest some policy proposals may be revised or withdrawn.

The budget is expected to focus on expenditure cuts due to economic challenges, though specific areas remain unclear. Dr. Forson also outlined plans to streamline the tax system, including eliminating the Betting Tax, e-levy, and COVID-19 levy.

Economic Adviser Seth Terkper indicated that strict tax compliance would help offset revenue losses from these removals. The final budget will be presented to Parliament on March 11, 2025.
