FirstBank has made a significant gesture to support education. They aim to provide opportunities for underprivileged children in the Ga communities.
The bank donated cash and supplies during a visit to a chief’s palace. This included bottled water, assorted drinks, and Kaiser Imperial schnapps. The delegation was led by Managing Director Mr. Victor Yaw Asante.
Mr. Asante described the visit as respectful and purposeful. He announced FirstBank's commitment of GH₵ 50,000 to the Ga Mantse’s education fund this year. He emphasized that this will be an annual contribution, not just a one-time gesture.
He noted that the Paramount Chief actively supports education for needy children. FirstBank wants to partner with him to extend this support. “The Ga Mantse has done much for education,” Mr. Asante explained.
Additionally, he mentioned that the bank supports other social causes in the Ga State. This includes backing the Homowo Festival, which celebrates Ga culture and traditions.
“We provide social support directly or through organizations,” he added. This partnership with the Ga Mantse is one of many initiatives they plan to continue.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II received the donation on behalf of the Ga State. He expressed gratitude towards FirstBank and sought blessings for its growth and impact. He praised the donation's importance for education in the community.
This gesture highlights a growing partnership between corporate Ghana and traditional authorities. Together, they aim to foster development through education, health, and cultural preservation.
