Dr. Ishmael Yamson, former Unilever Ghana boss and MTN Ghana Board Chair, stressed that strict fiscal discipline is essential for resetting Ghana’s struggling economy.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express Business Edition on March 6, he praised President Mahama’s decision to reduce the number of ministers and deputy ministers from over 100 to 60, calling it "a big leap" that shows change is possible with strong political will.
Dr. Yamson asserted that fiscal discipline should be the Finance Minister’s top priority to accelerate macroeconomic stability through effective monetary policy.
He expressed strong confidence in Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, emphasizing the need for visible progress within the current four-year mandate.
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of leadership integrity, warning against hypocrisy and urging leaders to lead by example to restore public trust and drive sustainable recovery.
