Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is the Majority Chief Whip and MP for South Dayi. He hopes the parliamentary recess will help Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reflect on his leadership style.
On April 3, Dafeamekpor spoke on Channel One Newsroom. He raised concerns about Afenyo-Markin's handling of parliamentary matters and colleague interactions.
Dafeamekpor stated, "This recess will offer him a chance to review his performance." He encouraged Afenyo-Markin to consider how he manages issues in Parliament and with his colleagues.
Dafeamekpor noted ongoing problems with Afenyo-Markin's leadership style. "He is not the first minority leader we've had," he said. "We previously complained about his style as majority leader."
He pointed out Afenyo-Markin's tendency to hold press conferences and dramatize issues. "As majority leader, he often held press conferences while in government," Dafeamekpor remarked. He also mentioned that Afenyo-Markin would walk out during parliamentary proceedings.
The Majority Chief Whip remains hopeful that the recess will help improve collaboration within Parliament.
