Forgery: Former SSNIT MIS Manager to enter plea bargaining with State

Caleb Kwaku Afaglo, from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), is facing forgery charges. He has begun plea bargaining with the state.

Afaglo, a former General Manager of Management of Information Systems at SSNIT, requested an adjournment. His lawyer, Mr. Bernard Shaw, informed the High Court about this request.

Shaw stated that they are exploring defense options for Afaglo. The defense has started plea bargaining negotiations with the Attorney General. They formally asked the Court for 30 days to finalize these negotiations.

Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Adinkra confirmed receipt of the plea bargaining letter. She also requested a 30-day adjournment to explore potential agreements.

Justice Henry Kwofie, sitting as a High Court Judge, granted the adjournment. The case is now scheduled for May 8, 2025.

Afaglo faces charges including defrauding by false pretenses and possession of forged documents in the SSNIT OBS Case.

In related news, Ernest Thompson, former SSNIT Boss; John Hagan Mensah; and Peter Hayibor were discharged from court. They were previously held for causing financial loss to the state.

The Attorney General filed a Nolle Prosequi on February 7, 2025. The three accused were discharged by the Court on February 20, 2025. They were set to open their defense before this filing occurred.
