Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President of IMANI, has clarified misconceptions surrounding the allocation of £5 million for Ghana's public financial management initiatives, following criticism by economist Amoah Citizen.
Cudjoe explained that the £5 million is not a consultancy fee but a budget earmarked for a series of interventions across various government agencies. He emphasized that the funds would complement existing workstreams supported by other partners of the Ghanaian government.
“The £5 million mentioned in my original post refers to the amount dedicated to all the various public financial management interventions identified across multiple agencies. We engaged critical government agencies to identify potential support areas to complement existing workstreams,” Cudjoe stated.
He further clarified that his original remarks did not imply that the entire amount was allocated to consultants but referenced a scoping exercise to explore potential areas for government support. The UK’s decision on implementing the program, he added, is still pending and may involve new or existing partnerships.
This clarification seeks to dispel misunderstandings and affirm the program's focus on strengthening Ghana’s fiscal and economic resilience through targeted public financial management reforms.
