Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Ghana, describes Ghana’s 2025 budget as “simple and pragmatic,” prioritizing key manifesto promises while maintaining fiscal discipline.
He commends the removal of the E-Levy, tax reductions, financial support for first-year tertiary students, and women’s banking seed funding as essential economic relief measures.
Defending the government’s cautious spending approach, he warns against excessive borrowing. However, he questions the GH¢1.5 billion agricultural allocation, arguing it may not drive significant transformation. He also raises concerns about the tax refund system being misused and calls for transparency.
Criticizing past wasteful projects, he opposes the continuation of initiatives like the National Cathedral, advocating for value-driven spending. Overall, he acknowledges the budget’s balance but stresses the need for prudent financial management.
