A recent report from the Ghana Statistical Service shows that 10 products made up 33.4% of all imports into Ghana in 2024. Diesel and petrol were the top imports.
The highest import value was for diesel, specifically automotive gas oil (AGO). This amounted to GH¢28.9 billion for Tema Oil Refinery.
Light oils, or motor spirit super, followed with a value of GH¢24.1 billion. Other notable imports included self-propelled bulldozers at GH¢6.2 billion.
Cement clinkers were valued at GH¢4.8 billion, while used vehicles ranged between 1500cc and 3000cc at GH¢4.2 billion.
The report also noted a trade surplus of GH¢32.1 billion from intra-African trade in 2024. This is an increase from GH¢20.7 billion in 2023.
