GEXIM deepens relations with US Exim Bank

A management team from the Ghana Export – Import Bank (GEXIM) met with US EXIM leaders on April 23, 2025. The meeting took place in Washington DC, USA.

The GEXIM delegation was led by Acting Chief Executive Sylvester Mensah. Other members included Deputy CEO Moses Klu Mensah and Jonathan Christopher Koney. They were welcomed by James C. Cruse and Isabel Galdiz at US EXIM headquarters.

During the meeting, GEXIM shared its strategic direction. This aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's agenda to boost Ghana's export economy. The goal is to provide necessary investments for Ghanaian businesses.

Mr. Cruse expressed interest in strengthening ties with GEXIM. He proposed a new Cooperative Framework Agreement to replace an old one from 2019. This agreement would help GEXIM use US EXIM’s loan guarantees for machinery procurement for qualified SMEs.

Sylvester Mensah thanked Mr. Cruse for hosting the delegation. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to enhancing trade and investment globally. GEXIM aims to play a key role in this economic transformation.

The two teams will meet again during the 2025 US EXIM Annual Conference on April 29-30, 2025. They plan to explore collaboration opportunities and connect Ghanaian businesses with American companies.
