GFZA CEO tours Free Zone Enterprises to strengthen industry engagement

Dr. Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), visited two Free Zone Enterprises on May 14, 2025. This tour aimed to engage with licensed operators and understand their challenges.

The delegation first visited Eco-Trade Limited. This company specializes in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Mr. Wissam Raad, the Managing Director, explained that they use Ghana as a transit hub for exports under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Next, they went to Wahu Mobility Limited. This women-led facility assembles electric bicycles for sustainable transportation. Ms. Abena Baidoo, the Chief Financial Officer, shared their mission to empower mobility entrepreneurs across Ghana.

Dr. Awusi praised both companies for their contributions to Ghana’s economy. She emphasized GFZA's commitment to supporting their growth efforts.

She particularly recognized Wahu Mobility for its innovative approach and women-led leadership. Dr. Awusi called it a model for inclusive industrial growth.

She reminded both enterprises about complying with GFZA regulations for sustained growth and credibility in the sector. "The Authority is committed to creating a business-friendly environment," she stated.

Dr. Awusi was accompanied by a high-level GFZA delegation. This included Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, Deputy CEO (Operations), and other senior officials from the authority.
