GhIE holds closing banquet & engineering excellence awards

Ehunabobriem Prah Agyensaim VI spoke at the closing banquet and engineering excellence awards. This event marked the end of the 2025 Engineering Conference and AGM of GhIE on March 28, 2025.

The Paramount Chief praised GhIE's leadership for deciding to build an Engineering Village at Assin Kushea. He noted that he had engaging discussions with Ing. Kwabena Bempong and Ing. Michael Dedey about this project over the past two years.

He believes this idea aligns with his vision for Assin Kushea and the country. It aims to foster innovation through practical applications of engineering skills.

In his welcome address, new GhIE President Ing. Ludwig Annang Hesse expressed happiness that Ehunabobriem Prah Agyensaim VI attended on short notice. He thanked the Paramount Chief for donating 10 acres of land for the Engineering Village.

Ing. Hesse assured that he would continue investing in this vision during his tenure. He aims to strengthen collaborative relations initiated by former President Ing. Kwabena Bempong.

Ing. Hesse also thanked international delegates for attending, especially Eng. Buthelezi Refilwe from South Africa, who was a special guest at the banquet.

During the awards ceremony, ten engineering practitioners received honors in various categories. The Regional Transport Research and Education Centre (TRECK) won in the Engineering Research & Academic – Industrial category.

Ing. Dr. William Ackaah was recognized as Most Published Author in Engineering. Ing. Prof. Isaac Monney won the Engineering Concepts & Innovation award, while Ing. Dr. Shadrack K. Amponsah received two awards: one for Business Management and another for Implementation of Solutions.

Ing. Doreen Ntiamoah-Asare earned the Distinguished Woman in Engineering award. My Redeemer Junior High School and Vine Christian High School both received awards for their achievements in STEM and Robotics.

In the Public Award category, Ing. Rev. Prof. Charles Anum Adams won for his contributions to public engineering efforts, along with KANTANKA Group for their technological advancements.

Twenty engineering practitioners were elevated to 'Fellows' of GhIE, while Dr. Joe Anokye became an Honorary Fellow of GhIE. Outgoing President Ing. Kwabena Bempong presented awards to individuals who supported him during his tenure.

The closing banquet was attended by representatives from engineering organizations across Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa, Kenya, and Zambia, among others.

Notable attendees included Mrs. Rose Sowakai Hesse, Past Presidents of GhIE, council members, Ag Executive Director Ing Samuel Magnus Asiedu, Women in Engineering (WiNE), Youth in Engineering (YE), and other dignitaries.
