Ghana, Japan sign $13.4M deal to boost Tamale’s power supply – Finance Minister announces

Ghana and Japan have signed a $13.4 million grant agreement to enhance Tamale’s electricity infrastructure, strengthening power distribution and supporting economic growth in Northern Ghana.

Signed between the Government of Ghana and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the funding will support the construction of a new substation and power distribution lines to improve supply reliability.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who officiated the signing with Her Excellency Suzuki Momoko, JICA’s Chief Representative, highlighted the project’s role in job creation, industrialization, and improved livelihoods.

Once completed, the initiative is expected to boost business growth and daily life for residents in Tamale and its surrounding areas.
