Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable mining practices. This was announced during the 2025 West African Mining and Power Exhibition (WAMPEX). The event is a key platform for sustainable mining and energy solutions in the region.
A government representative addressed industry leaders and international partners at WAMPEX. They highlighted Ghana's strategic role in meeting global demand for critical minerals. The official emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and community empowerment.
“Ghana stands at the forefront of this transformative moment,” they said. “As the world seeks secure sources of critical minerals, our country can respond responsibly.”
The statement highlighted Ghana’s position as Africa’s largest gold producer. It also noted that Ghana is a key source of other valuable minerals. Under President John Dramani Mahama, the government aims to ensure mineral wealth benefits Ghanaians.
“We are not just offering resources; we are offering a blueprint for the future,” the representative added. They envision mining driving domestic industrialization and building local capacity.
Ghana seeks to attract responsible foreign investment and build long-term partnerships. These efforts align with the country’s sustainable development goals.
WAMPEX 2025, held in Accra, gathers stakeholders from mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. They discuss innovations, policies, and practices that support sustainable growth in West Africa.
With its message of transformation and inclusive growth, Ghana aims to lead on the continent. Its presence at this year’s exhibition signals ambition to redefine mining's role in national development.
