The government plans to create a Renewable Energy Investment Fund.
Mr. John Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, announced this in Parliament on Tuesday. The Fund will help increase clean energy production and lower power costs. It will also reduce reliance on the national electricity grid.
To support this initiative, the government will establish a Solar Technology Resource Centre at Ho Technical University. This center will train students and Ghanaians in renewable energy technologies.
Mr. Jinapor noted that Ghana has abundant renewable energy sources. He believes these resources can boost industrialization in the country. The government aims to enhance renewable energy technology for irrigation, agriculture, and industry.
Mr. Frank Annor-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri, praised Mr. Jinapor's commitment to previous NPP projects. He believes continuing past policies will benefit the people of Ghana.
