The Minority Caucus in Parliament has urged the government to help fire victims. They want part of the Contingency Fund used for this support.
Mr. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markins, the Minority Leader, made this request. He spoke during a visit to the Adum Blue Light fire disaster site. The Caucus expressed sympathy for the affected traders.
He noted that the destruction was severe and needed urgent assistance. The Contingency Fund is available for such emergencies.
Mr. Afenyo Markins mentioned that NPP leadership had already visited the traders. However, the Minority felt it was important to show their support too.
They announced a donation of GH¢200,000 to help rebuild traders' stores. Mr. Afenyo Markins assured them of their commitment to protect their interests.
The members were joined by some national executives of the NPP and Ashanti regional officials.
