Prof. Stephen Adei, former Rector of GIMPA, asserted on KeyPoints (March 8) that Ghana’s development would accelerate if governments stayed in power longer, ensuring the continuity needed for long-term growth.
He argued that while frequent government changes benefit democracy, they hinder economic progress as successive administrations often abandon ongoing projects.
Adei famously stated, "Ghana needs a good government who will be in power for 20 years, but it should not be the same President."
He lauded the National Economic Dialogue held at the Accra International Conference Centre from March 3-4 as a much-needed forum for stakeholder engagement, noting that previous administrations failed to listen.
Despite not being officially invited, he humorously "gate-crashed" the event upon finding his name tag ready.
