The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has extended the deadline for new gold trading licenses. The new date is June 21, 2025, instead of May 21, 2025. This change follows petitions from various stakeholders.
GoldBod stated that anyone with a license from the defunct PMMC or the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources can still trade gold until June 21, 2025. After this date, only GoldBod license holders can buy or sell gold.
Using old licenses will be prohibited after the new deadline. Violating this rule will be an offense under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (ACT 1140).
Additionally, licenses from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources will no longer allow exports starting May 22, 2025. Only GoldBod can export small-scale gold from Ghana.
GoldBod encourages anyone interested in trading gold to apply for a license on their website (goldbod.gov.gh). The application process is ongoing and will continue past the new deadline.
They hope for cooperation from all stakeholders and the public. This effort aims to maximize benefits from Ghana's gold resources in line with President John Dramani Mahama's vision.
