Gordon Asare-Bediako, a journalist from Wontumi TV, shared details about his recent arrest. He spoke about his interaction with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) during an interview on Eyewitness News.
Asare-Bediako received a call around 12:30 pm. The caller claimed to be an OSP officer and requested a meeting at his workplace. Initially, he wanted to reschedule due to other commitments. However, he later decided to meet at his office for what was described as a "mere conversation."
When he arrived, he was taken into a room with five people. They questioned him about comments he made on Movement TV two weeks earlier. His statements suggested that the Special Prosecutor had asked for a private jet due to safety concerns.
Asare-Bediako confirmed making those remarks but insisted they were based on information he received. OSP officials viewed his comments as an attack on the Special Prosecutor's integrity and linked them to corruption.
They demanded that he reveal his source of information, which led to tension during the meeting. Asare-Bediako expressed concern over how the meeting was conducted. He had sought assurance that it would be formal and initially wanted legal representation.
He stated, “I was there from 2:30 to almost 6 pm.” He could not provide his source of information. Consequently, he was given a bail bond of GHS5 million with two sureties before being released.
