Gordon Asare-Bediako to sue OSP for 'wrongful' detention

Wontumi TV journalist Gordon Asare-Bediako plans to sue the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He claims wrongful detention as the reason for his legal action.

Asare-Bediako has asked his lawyer to explore legal options against the OSP. He stated, “I am not sure the OSP has the mandate to request a journalist to give a source.” This was shared during an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.

He believes the OSP's actions were unnecessary and overstepped its authority. Asare-Bediako suggested that a civil approach would have been better. The Special Prosecutor could have requested a retraction or apology instead of detaining him.

He expressed frustration with how the situation unfolded. He questioned the motives behind the OSP's actions. “I don’t know what they want to achieve,” he said.

Asare-Bediako was arrested and later released on bail. This followed questioning about comments he made regarding the Special Prosecutor.
