The government is supporting indigenous businesses through the Kwahu Business Forum. This initiative aims to help up to 600 enterprises by President John Mahama’s term end.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah spoke at the Jubilee House. He emphasized the government's commitment to empowering local businesses. The goal is to boost the private sector and encourage entrepreneurship.
Debrah highlighted the President's dedication to this project. He wants it to succeed and believes it is important.
The Kwahu Business Forum will occur this weekend. It will gather start-ups, SMEs, investors, and industry leaders. Participants will connect, share ideas, and promote investment in local businesses.
Mr. Debrah announced that the African Development Bank will participate. Several top banks and financial institutions will also join in. Each bank will adopt five bankable enterprises for support and mentorship.
He explained that each participating bank will select five projects this year. Next year, they plan to invite these projects back for testimonials.
If this initiative continues annually, its impact could be significant. Mr. Debrah believes over 600 enterprises could benefit by the end of Mahama’s term.
Currently focused on Kwahu, the forum may expand nationally in the future. Debrah envisions entrepreneurs from all over Ghana attending.
He mentioned that future forums could include public agency officials like those from GRA. These officials could educate businesses on financial and regulatory matters.
For example, next year might feature GRA's Commissioner General explaining benefits to businesses.
