The government has announced major allocations in the 2025 budget to address economic and social needs. Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, presenting the budget in Parliament, revealed key initiatives, including US$279 million for the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) to support small-scale miners and boost gold exports.
The GH¢13.85 billion Big Push Programme will fund transportation, energy, and social infrastructure projects. To support education, GH¢499.8 million has been allocated for the No-Academic-Fee policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions, while GH¢292.4 million will provide free sanitary pads for female students.
Additionally, GH¢242.5 million has been allocated to assist Akosombo dam spillage victims and GH¢200 million for those affected by tidal waves in Ketu South. These measures aim to drive growth and social support.
