Gov’t must do business like a business, not public sector – Ofosu Dorte

Dr. David Ofosu Dorte, Senior Partner at AB & David Africa, urged the government to adopt a business-like approach, emphasizing efficiency and professionalism akin to the private sector.

Speaking at the Swedru Conversations on February 20, 2025, in Accra, he challenged the notion that economic growth must solely be driven by the private sector, arguing that any sector can propel growth if managed well.

He stressed that State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) can significantly boost the economy when led by competent, autonomous leaders rather than political appointees.

Citing Ethiopian Airlines as a successful government-owned enterprise, he contended that the government must "do business as a business" to achieve sustainable, results-driven economic management.
